William Angliss Institute is the Government endorsed specialist training provider for the foods, tourism, hospitality and events industries and is recognised as Australia’s leading provider of training for these key industry sectors. The Institute aims to provide excellent vocational education and training services for industry, students and government in Victoria, Australia and globally.

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, qualified and experienced Human Resources Advisor to provide expertise and advice to staff and managers on a range of human resources services provided by the People and Capability Department.  In addition this multi-faceted position will provide management and administration of the Institute’s HRIS (CHRIS21), including the Employee Self Service (HR21). The Advisor will also provide reporting and analysis of HR management information; training and advice to managers and staff using Employee Self Service; and advice on matters pertaining to terms and conditions of employment. 

The ideal candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification in human resources or a similar discipline coupled with substantial experience in a Human Resources generalist role including system administration of a human resource system (preferably CHRIS21). A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be an advantage. Highly developed inter-personal and communications skills and the ability to provide authoritative advice on HR issues are essential. The Human Resources Advisor will also have a comprehensive knowledge of awards, EBAs, legislation, employment laws and policies.

Key Selection Criteria for this role:
1. A tertiary qualification in human resources or a similar discipline is essential and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be an advantage.
2. Substantial experience in a similar environment with an emphasis on a Human Resources generalist role as well as experience as a systems administrator for an HRIS system (preferably CHRIS21).
3. Ability to provide and analyse human resource management information and prepare regular detailed reports, statistics and graphs for management on organisational achievement against a suite of HR targets via an HRIS.
4. Sound interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to provide authoritative advice on general HR issues.
5. Demonstrated ability to work without supervision and with sound organisational ability and the capacity to balance the demands of simultaneous assignments, whilst maintaining priorities and working towards the Department’s objectives.
6. Comprehensive knowledge of awards, EBAs, legislation and employment law and policies.
7. Advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite, particularly using excel spreadsheets and databases.
8. Demonstrated behaviours that align with the William Angliss Institute Values.
